A look out any of the windows at The Falls Inn and Spa is a quick reminder of our responsibility. We are located on the edge of a forest, on the cliff of a gorge, beside a 45' fresh waterfall, in a UNESCO biosphere reserve known as the Niagara Escarpment. From the day we opened we set and grew policies to protect our surroundings.  We have been asked what those policys are, so here is the answer:

  Green Power

The Falls Inn has an application in front of the Niagara Escarpment Commission to resume power production on the falls.

CFBs

Compact Floresent Bulbs are used in every corner of the building where non-dimming fixtures are insatlled.  This includes spots at the front desk and vanities in many guestrooms.  More bulbs are used as old bulbs are replaced.

Biodegradable Cleaners

We look for green options when purchasing cleaners used in the building.

Biodegradable Banquetwear

By using corn material plastic banquetwear we reduce the use of chemicals in our dishwasher and provide disposable plastics we know will not remain in landfills.

Vending

We do not power vending systems for pop, ice or snacks.  The lounge or front desk is happy to assist with serving these items.

Light Sensors

Public washrooms and outdoor lighting use motion and photo sensing to control when lighting is needed

Food Waste

kitchen and dining room scraps are removed using a disposal mulching system.  Bio material is not sent to landfills.

 Guestrooms

Over 70% of the building is used by guests alone.  For this reason we need your help to keep the falls green.  Recycling bins have been placed in every guestroom and guests are asked to consider reusing linens during multi-night stays.

To reduce the use of plastic bottles, The Falls Inn has installed a Brita water filter on the bar sink of all guestrooms. The Falls Inn is on a Municipal water system.
